My first post here. Whoo!

THE BOOKS

Favourites

1. Who's your favourite character? Why? My favorite character is, surprise surprise, Ginny Weasley. I've always liked her and I felt I could relate to her the most. And then in OotP she just rocked.

2. Who's your least favourite character? Why? Ah, Umbridge. She honestly has no redeeming qualities and is just evil. Some of the things she did, namely Harry's detention, made my skin crawl.

3. Which book is your favourite? (And again with the why. Am sick of putting it. Be nice and say why. :D) I really don't like choosing but I usually go with Prisoner of Azkaban. That was when we were introduced to Remus and Sirius and got to learn about the Marauders.

4. Which (permanent) Hogwarts professor is your favourite? I have a soft spot for Flitwick. I think it's because he's so short, but McGonagall is my favorite. She's strict but manages to still be very cool. At least I think so.

5. Which Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is your favourite? Remus, definitely. And not just because the other choices are rather undesirable. (Er, sorry, Gildy.) He actually taught them stuff. Fancy that!

6. Which pet is your favourite? Ooh, this requires some deep thinking. Pig, for being so darn cute.

7. Which Marauder is your favourite? I'm going to agree with Twixxa. As a Marauder, Padfoot is my favorite.

8. Which ship is your favourite? (Up to 3) Ginny/Harry. I started liking them 'cause, ya know, they are the only ones I can write and I thought Ginny's crush was cute. But then I just started to really love them together. In OotP, I thought her bluntness was good for him since he was sort of going angst crazy. She wouldn't take his crap, man.

Ron/Hermione because their bickering is the best. C'mon, who doesn't love jealous!Ron?

Remus/Sirius for reasons I can't really explain. They just work.

9. Who's your favourite Weasley? Erm. Ginny and Ron. I seriously love everyone one of them, Percy included.

10. Gryffindor? Harry. He's so Gryffindor-y.

11. Ravenclaw? Luna Lovegood.

12. Hufflepuff? Cedric Diggory.

13. Slytherin? Blaise Zabini.

14. Hogwarts ghost? Nearly Headless Nick.

15. Fantastic beast? ;) Why're you winking at me?? *suspicious* I like unicorns 'cause they have the whole pretty thing going on.

16. Dursley? Petunia.

17. Evil character? Tom Riddle. I'm intrigued by Narcissa and Bellatrix, though.

18. House? Gryffindor. Typical, but true.

19. Quidditch match? I'm quite partial to the one where Ginny caught the snitch right under Cho's nose. :) But I really love when they won in PoA. I rather want to marry Oliver every time I read that book. We're so like-minded when it comes to sports.

20. Beauxbatons/Durmstrang student? Fluer for Beauxbatons and Krum for Durmstrang. If I had to choose between those two, Krum.

Other

21. In your opinion, which character is the most tragic? Remus edges Sirius out. Being a werewolf gives you quite an advantage.

22. Who do you think is the funniest character? Ooh, the twins. They make me laugh out loud the most.

23. How do you feel about Draco Malfoy? Um, he's a spoiled, cowardly bastard but I don't particularly hate him either.

24. How about Snape? Again, he's a bastard and can be just cruel to the Gryffindors. However, he, unlike Draco, is not a coward. He's an interesting character.

25. Cho Chang? Oh, Lord, I wanted to strangle her in OotP. That may have had something to do with Harry. Anyway, I don't particularly like her but I don't blame her for being all woe is me.

26. Which plot twist in the books thus far surprised you the most? Can I say all of them? It doesn't take much to pull the wool over my eyes. But I'd have to say everything with Barty Crouch Jr.

27. Which character can you identify with the most? Ginny.

28. Has Harry/Hermione tainted toast for you? . . . Right-o. Moving on.

29. Who do you think has the coolest name? (These are in-depth questions, really.) There are so many cool ones in HP. Ginevra Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks all the way. I also like Narcissa and Luna Lovegood. Dumbledore's middle names cracked me up and Bilius? Best name ever. Buahaha.

30. Did you cry at book five? Oh, tons. I was quite distressed.

31. Do you think he's really gone? I do.

32. Who else do you think isn't going to live throughout the rest of the series? Because of the silver hand, Remus. *sobs*

33. Whose death would absolutely scar you for life? Any of the Weasley's. Hermione. And if Harry dies at the end of book seven I would be emotional destroyed.

34. I'd die right alongside Ron and/or Hermione if one of them kicked the bucket. Yes, Nita, we know.

35. n_n. HAHAHAHA. That so caught me off guard when I was initially reading the questions.

36. Er. Sorry. I really couldn't resist. Sooo . . . Harry in OotP. What did you think? He was a giant ball of angst. I understand why, but it seriously annoyed me. He needed to chill out and stop yelling at everyone.

37. Were you surprised by Ginny's characterization? I was. I wanted JKR to go that direction with her characterization but it still surprised me, in a nice way. It was one of the best things ever, though.

38. Do you want to see Bellatrix suffer like no one has suffered before? YES.

39. What do you think's in store for everyone's favourite detestable little rat, Wormtail? I'd like to see him suffer like no one else has suffered before more than I wish that on Bellatrix.

40. Did you get the somewhat creepy Remus/Tonks vibes? (Sorry that the survey writer bias is sinking through here.) Honestly, not really. A tiny bit but it was only brought to my attention by fanfic writers. I adore Tonks, but she is so going down if they become canon. *flexes muscles*

MOVIES

1. Which movie is your favourite? Prisoner of Azkaban, hands down.

2. Do you enjoy movie!Harry, Ron, or Hermione the most? Movie!Ron, I suppose.

3. Pick five favourite movie moments.
- The erm, brotherly embrace.
- R/H-y stuff in PoA.
- When Quirrel rushes into the Great Hall in SS to tell them about the troll. He says, "Thought you ought to know" and then falls over. It never fails to crack me up.
- Any Gildyliciousness. :)
- The scene with the animal cracker things in PoA/Divinations. It's a tie.

4. How did you feel about David Thewlis as Lupin? Surprisingly, I thought he did a good job. He wasn't what I pictured Remus as but he had his moments.

5. Oldman as Sirius? Amazing. Just amazing.

6. Whose characterization bothers you the most? Hermione's. I like her fine just. . . Kloves and his fetish, ya know?

7. Gambon or Harris as Dumbledore? Oh, Gambon. I like Richard Harris but he didn't capture Dumbledore's spirit. He's not this wheezing old man.

8. Which movie alteration has irked you the most? Hermione stealing Ron's lines and not elaborating on who the Mauraders were. Uh, hello??

9. What do you think has been the scariest thing in the movies so far? The dementors. They didn't scare me very much, though.

10. Which scene from each movie did you find the most moving? In the first one, Mirror of Erised. (I think that's very moving in the book as well.)

In the second one, when Hermione gets out of the hospital or whatever. Huh. I can't remember the movie that well right now.

In the third one, all the Remus and Sirius scenes. And when Sirius was talking to Harry about living with him. That part makes my heart melt. He's so hopeful.

11. Are you amused by the obvious R/H-ness going on? It's great. It makes me so happy.

12. Do you think Steve Kloves should be punished in some way? Yup. I think we should kidnap him and have the fans right the next script. Down with Kloves!

13. Alfonso or Chris Columbus? Oh, Alfonso. Definitely. He seemed to "get" the books far more than dear Columbus ever did.

FANFICTION/FANDOM

1. Do you write fanfiction? Yes.

2. Who are your favourite characters to write about? Ginny. I really enjoy her and feel I have the best grasp on her characterization.

3. Who can you just not get in-character for the life of you? We'll be here all day if I try to list them for you. I'll go with Sirius and Remus, for starters.

4. Which fanfictions (top 3) are you the most pleased with? 1. It's A Hair Dresser's Life For Us 2. I like most of my G/Hs 3. The Young and The Magical.

5. Which fanfiction makes you want to go hide and never see the light of day again? Ohhh, Lord. I've Waited Long Enough.

6. Does slash squick you? Some of it. Hagrid/Filch? Just wrong.

7. Do you enjoy unconventional pairings (Snape/Hermione, Draco/Hermione, etc.)? Not really, no. I mostly stick to my tried and true pairings. I've read and really liked two Remus/Hermione fics and the occasional Draco/Ginny, if that counts as unconventional.

8. Which character do you think is portrayed the most differently in fanon? Draco. Everyone gets changed a bit, but he's like a completely different character half the time.

9. What's your favourite fanfic pairing? Hmm. I really enjoy reading G/H, R/H, R/S, and S/S. I still love Draco/Cryssa, even if I am not obsessed with him anymore.

10. What's the most bizarre ship you've ever stumbled upon? Hagrid/Hermione. Oy. Ooh, and Dumbledore/Harry. OTP, baby. :)

3. Which book is your favourite? (And again with the why. Am sick of putting it. Be nice and say why. :D) Prisoner of Azkaban, because of the Marauders. I love the Marauders more than I can say. 17. Evil character? Tom Riddle.

18. House? As much as I support Slytherin, I'd have to say, in the end, Gryffindor.

20. Beauxbatons/Durmstrang student? Fleur and Krum, o' course!

22. Who do you think is the funniest character? Tonks. :D

23. How do you feel about Draco Malfoy? Hmm, I'm a bit mixed. I want to hate him, but I think he's going to become a bit more important later. But I still hate him.

24. How about Snape? Well, I don't really like him. He's not a nice guy, but he's got quite a story to him that I'd like to read about in later books.

25. Cho Chang? Stay away from Harry!

26. Which plot twist in the books thus far surprised you the most? Sirius's death.. *sob*

27. Which character can you identify with the most?

28. Has Harry/Hermione tainted toast for you? Is that a good thing?

29. Who do you think has the coolest name? (These are in-depth questions, really.) Nymphadora Tonks.

30. Did you cry at book five? Oh my goodness, buckets.

31. Do you think he's really gone? Yes... but there's something more to the veil. And we don't have a body. He won't be coming back, but we're not done with this plot line.

32. Who else do you think isn't going to live throughout the rest of the series? I have this sinking feeling that all the Marauders will die (Oh god, I can't even think of this without crying). I mean, Wormtail is a dead man walking. And then that leaves Remus... *sob*

33. Whose death would absolutely scar you for life? *points above* Remus. God, I start sobbing just thinking about him dying. If it actually happened? Oh, it would be worse than Sirius. And that was BAD.

34. I'd die right alongside Ron and/or Hermione if one of them kicked the bucket. Oh, that would be horrible.

35. n_n. *snort*

36. Er. Sorry. I really couldn't resist. Sooo . . . Harry in OotP. What did you think? BASTARD! Ugh, he was very moody.

37. Were you surprised by Ginny's characterization? Yes, I suppose. The way her character developed was just the way I had hoped, so it was a pleasant surprise.

38. Do you want to see Bellatrix suffer like no one has suffered before? With the passion of a thousand fiery suns.

39. What do you think's in store for everyone's favourite detestable little rat, Wormtail? Like I said earlier, he is a dead man walking.

40. Did you get the somewhat creepy Remus/Tonks vibes? (Sorry that the survey writer bias is sinking through here.) Yes, but it's requited for Tonks.

MOVIES

1. Which movie is your favourite? Prisoner of Azkaban.

2. Do you enjoy movie!Harry, Ron, or Hermione the most? movie!Ron was the best.

3. Pick five favourite movie moments.
- Remus/Sirius hug
- Sirius trying to stop Remus transforming
- Ron/Hermione holding hands - sorta
- Hermione snuggling with Ron
- Ron waking up from the dream about the spiders trying to make him tapdance

Notice a bit of a pattern?

4. How did you feel about David Thewlis as Lupin? Wonderfully. I thought he was quite perfect.

5. Oldman as Sirius? Goodness, he was so perfect.

6. Whose characterization bothers you the most? Timothy Spall as Pettigrew. It could have been a lot better.

7. Gambon or Harris as Dumbledore? I couldn't say, because they were so different. They both put something different into the character.

8. Which movie alteration has irked you the most? In PoA, they didn't explain the Marauders.

9. What do you think has been the scariest thing in the movies so far? The dementors, hands down. *shudder*

10. Which scene from each movie did you find the most moving? Hmm.. I liked the scene where Harry got the photo album in the first one. In the second one, gosh, I don't know. But in the third one. Wow. Pretty much everything I've already talked about. R/S hug, the transformation, and the talk with Harry and Sirius. *sniffle*

11. Are you amused by the obvious R/H-ness going on? Oh, it's awesome!

12. Do you think Steve Kloves should be punished in some way? Yes, and no. He's butchered a lot of stuff, but in the third one he did a lot better. There were SO MANY lines straight from the book.

13. Alfonso or Chris Columbus? Wait? Are we saying that either Alfonso or Chris Columbus should be punished in some way or are we saying who we prefer? I don't like Chris and I like Alfonso.. Just to clear that up.

FANFICTION/FANDOM

1. Do you write fanfiction? Of course!

2. Who are your favourite characters to write about? I'm really enjoying writing Remus.

3. Who can you just not get in-character for the life of you? Sirius. Goodness, it's quite frustrating.

4. Which fanfictions (top 3) are you the most pleased with? I can't really think of three, but I have Him and It Couldn't Hurt

5. Which fanfiction makes you want to go hide and never see the light of day again? HPMJ and HP5. *shudder*

6. Does slash squick you? That sounds like a bad thing. I can only tolerate Remus/Sirius because it is quite canon, and the other ones... aren't.

7. Do you enjoy unconventional pairings (Snape/Hermione, Draco/Hermione, etc.)? I only like Draco/Ginny when it's written very, very well. And it would be a very controlling, abusive relationship for Ginny, because Draco's such an asshole. Not that I like seeing Ginny in a controlling, abusive relationship, but it's quite angsty, don'tcha think?

8. Which character do you think is portrayed the most differently in fanon? Hmm.. that's a good question. I think Draco.

9. What's your favourite fanfic pairing? *grins* Remus/Sirius, of course.

THE BOOKS

Favourites

1. Who's your favourite character? Why?
I have two. And the thing is that I simply cannot choose between them, because I love them both equally. I have expressed this numerous times, but felt compelled to explain that beforehand.

I love Hermione, just because I think I can identify with her a lot. I have the same outlook on school, etc., though admittedly don't have her dedication to it. Really, really wish I did. And I like that she's very insecure and tries to mask that by doing exceptionally well at school and by acting very bossy and snobby. I love that she's all reasonable and everything, but at the same time she sort of lacks wisdom because you can't learn everything from books. She's very set in her ways and beliefs -- another thing I definitely have in common with her -- and she can just be so completely oblivious to everyone else's outlook on life sometimes because of that, which is endearing. :) And I love how she gets all panicked during stressful situations and is so emotional, because she's very, very strong while still being able to cry a lot and show what she feels and such. I think that's neat in a heroine, because usually if they're strong, then they don't display any sort of emotional weakness.

Oh, Ron. I really, deeply, truly adore Ron, and always have. He's just so funny -- I remember little eleven year old me just adoring him because of that. He's got a wonderful wit, and such a strong character. He's wonderfully loyal and protective of his friends, and he'd honestly die for them. The movies do a wonderful job of not capturing that at all. Points to Kloves there. :P And I adore that he's so wonderfully snarky and seems like such a typical boy, but then he's really such a softie. And he always sticks by Harry, even though it's clear that he gets very jealous of him - and with good reason. And . . . I just love him. Because he's Ron.

2. Who's your least favourite character? Why?
Um . . . Umbridge. Must I even explain? She's just disgusting. Really, truly horrifying -- and it's interesting, I think, because while she's on the side of the "good guys," she's such a horrifying, corrupt person. Really brilliant of JKR, I think, to show that the Death Eaters aren't the only bad guys, and there's not such a distinct line between good and evil. I honestly couldn't believe the detention punishment with the quill when I first read it because it was so dark. I mean, JKR isn't one to sugar-coat anything, but that was genuinely surprising and just so disturbing.

I also don't like Hedwig. She's a snobby owl.

3. Which book is your favourite? (And again with the why. Am sick of putting it. Be nice and say why. :D)
I can't pick one. I just can't. I try and it makes my brain hurt. I really adore all of them, and they've all got moments that really just shine.

I love Philosopher's Stone just because that's where everything begins, and it's so nice to see the friendships develop and everything. And Ron's chess game at the end is wonderful. I really love that.

CoS is wonderful because it's so funny and there's Gildy, and I love Ginny's crush on Harry and the traces of Ron/Hermione, and the entire Chamber storyline is really terrifying. I remember being so scared after finishing that book that I couldn't sleep.

PoA is . . . I don't even know where to start with that one. So, so amazing. I love Remus so much - even though Ron and Hermione are my favourite characters, I've never felt such a strong affinity for a HP character as I have for him. As soon as the encounter with the dementor happened in chapter five, I just loved him. He's so good and sweet and wryly witty and just wonderful. My heart honestly stopped when he came into the Shrieking Shack and hugged Sirius at the end, because I was a dumb sixth grader who honestly believed Sirius was guilty and it just broke my heart to think that he might be evil. (I also remember getting R/S vibes. Honestly. I was bothered by them because I was eleven. Of course, I may have just been being immature and thinking 'ew, two guys hugging, gross' but I somehow doubt I was that immature at eleven . . . but I distinctly remember the R/S vibes.) And that book was just so emotionally heart wrenching -- when I found out Sirius was innocent, I felt so, so guilty, because originally I had hated him so much and just wanted Harry to kill him. I honestly felt so bad for ever believing that he had done it. And Snape's "Give me a reason. Give me a reason and I swear I will." line always really frightens me. So intense and scary.

GoF brings me joy 'cause it's just kind of the coming of age one. You've got Ron and Hermione denial-y goodness and tension, and Harry and his unrequited Cho-crushiness. I don't mind it so long as it's unrequited. "Wangobalwitme" or whatever he says really amuses me beyond all reason. :) And I just love the darkness of it -- the end is truly terrifying. And all of the new characters in this one - Cedric, Fleur, Krum, Rita - are such fun. And it's nice to see Bill and Charlie. :) And The Yule Ball is so much fun. And Moody! Oh, he was so cool and then he was evil! Good good good plot twist in this one. And . . . yeah, hi, I just love it. And Sirius is a lovable stray.

And, of course, OotP I have to love with a huge chunk of my soul because I waited so long for it. This book honestly made me happier than anything else has in my entire life. (Haha, I'm so sad. But it's TRUE!) It was honestly completely worth waiting for so long, and there were so many surprises in it. Harry's angstiness, Ginny being so darn cool, THE R/S VIBES (made me so happy -- totally cemented it in my mind), Ron being prefect, the Marauders being such jerks and the Lil/James love/hate relationship . . . it was all just so much fun. And if I hadn't been told, I would have never expected her to kill Sirius. Heck, I still didn't expect her to kill Sirius. Yes. That broke my heart. I have never cried so hard in my life. Aaand . . . yeah, I'm done now because this is entirely irrelevent.

4. Which (permanent) Hogwarts professor is your favourite?
McGonagall, I think. I also like Snape, but more because he's an interesting character and not because I agree with his teaching methods or anything like that. McGonagall's just cool. She was especially great in OotP.

5. Which Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is your favourite?
Remus. He's just such a wonderful character -- the perfect teacher. And I wish he would come back for sixth year. That would be wonderful. More Remus is essential.

And Gildy, too, because he is Gildylicious.

6. Which pet is your favourite?
Crookshanks. I am deeply amused by Crookshanks. :)

7. Which Marauder is your favourite?
Moony. Again with the Remus love.

8. Which ship is your favourite? (Up to 3)
Ron/Hermione. Aaand . . . yes, I'm going to go on a big Ron/Hermione rambling fest, because that's what I do. I absolutely love the relationship between these two. They've always had a wonderful spark between them, and I love that even though they can bicker like nobody's business and honestly say hurtful things to one another, they do care so much for each other and are always quick to protect one another. Ron's so protective of her, which is sweet, and they're just . . . wonderful. And so meant to be. They'd better get together in 6 or I will go mental.

I also love Harry/Ginny. They've got the spark too! I always thought Harry/Ginny would be more mellow and such, but along came OotP, and bam! Undeniable sparkage. There's just something in their character interaction - it's the same thing that Ron and Hermione have going on, but more subtle - and you can just tell.

And Remus/Sirius. I don't even know how to explain why, but I really, really love this one. It's just right.

9. Who's your favourite Weasley?
Ron. Because he's Ron. But I honestly adore them all so much. (Except maybe Percy. And I adored him too until OotP.)

10. Gryffindor?
Harry. He rather embodies the whole Gryffindor spirit. Though I'm also very attached to Neville, and I'm sure he does too.

11. Ravenclaw?
Luna. She's so delightfully strange.

12. Hufflepuff?
Cedric. He was just so nice. It's heartbreaking that he died (though not, of course, to the Sirius scale. Not even close.) because he was honestly such a good person.

13. Slytherin?
Blaise Zabini. Seriously. I hate all the main ones. Little prats.

14. Hogwarts ghost?
The Grey Lady. Go mysteriousness. :)

15. Fantastic beast? ;)
Um . . . I really like the unicorns. Just 'cause. The descriptions in book one about them were really beautiful. I also have an odd thing for lethifolds. I mention them all the time in my fanfics. And, admittedly, when I first read abou them in Fantastic Beasts, I was deeply, deeply freaked out. Scary concept.

16. Dursley?
Petunia. I've always rather liked her.

17. Evil character?
Narcissa. Just because I think she's got a lot of character possibilities, and we haven't seen enough of her yet for me to really hate her. :)

18. House?
Gryffindor. I think I'd be in Ravenclaw and therefore I rather like it, but in the end I'm always going to root for Gryffindor.

19. Quidditch match?
I love the final one in PoA, because it's just so sweet at the end when they win. I always get all teary and so happy for them. And in OotP, I love that Ginny catches the snitch right from under Cho's nose. Foreshadowing, anyone? ;)

20. Beauxbatons/Durmstrang student?
Krum. I have a deep fondness for Mr. Krum. He's just so endearing. :)

Other

21. In your opinion, which character is the most tragic?
I'm torn between Remus and Sirius here.

Sirius . . . I still hate thinking that he died, because he never truly got to live. He grew up with an awful family with beliefs completely contradictory to his, and then was punished for something he didn't do but, in a way, believed he did . . . he was forced for twelve years to know that the people he loved were either dead (James and Lily) or suffering (Remus) and that someone he'd always considered a friend had betrayed them all. And then when he finally did escape, the chance of his name being cleared was taken away so quickly, and he could never quite be there for Harry the way he wanted to because he was always on the run. And then in OotP, he's just trapped inside the house when it's so against his nature and he wants to be out doing things, and then he dies without ever having his name cleared -- not to mention that his death wasn't glorious. He didn't sacrifice himself to save someone else, or anything of the like. He was just being arrogant, and he paid for it with his life. It's just so thoroughly heartbreaking and unfair and I DON'T WANT HIM TO BE DEAD. I honestly never thought JKR would kill him because good God, the man has suffered enough.

And as for Remus . . . everything he's had to go through. He's very similar to Sirius, in a way. He's always been prejudiced against, and then he lost the people that he loved and was forced to believe that Sirius was a murderer. And so he was alone and very tormented for twelve years, and must have been so happy to finally have Sirius back and realize that he'd never betrayed them, but then Sirius was taken away from him again. He was forced to be the last Marauder for such a long time, and then as soon as he found out he wasn't, Sirius died and . . . he was.

And am I sounding cheesy or what? But it's sad stuff, yo.

22. Who do you think is the funniest character?
Ron. He honestly just cracks me up. Fred and George also rather kill me.

23. How do you feel about Draco Malfoy?
I HATE HIM. The whole fangirly "He's just misunderstood and abused and so on" thing annoys me to no end. Book 5, if anything, completely cemented what side he's on. He's spoiled and evil and cowardly, and has completely skewed values, and I don't think he's going to be redeemed.

24. How about Snape?
Snape I have come to like. He's interesting and has so many different layers, and while he can be an absolute bastard (Auriga knows what she's talkin' 'bout) he's still ultimately fighting for the good side. It's interesting to know how his childhood was and how much it's scarred him, and what it drove him to do and everything. And I think it's neat that instead of sticking with the dark side, a la Wormtail who was also seemed to have a lousy time during school years - though not as much as Snape - Snape did in some ways redeem himself.

25. Cho Chang?
I liked her all right until book five. And pretty much, the reason that I don't like her is because she conflicted with G/H. There, I shall freely admit it. I am so obsessive about my ships. But . . . I do think she's a very sad character, but kind of ridiculous at the same time. But she definitely has justification for being so emotional. It's just that Harry's not the one to go to for it. At all.

26. Which plot twist in the books thus far surprised you the most?
She honestly gets me every time. I fully believed Snape was evil. I thought Gildy wrote all his books. (I don't think I thought that Hagrid opened the Chamber though. Haha! Am not a complete idiot.) I was convinced Sirius killed the Potters. It never occurred to me that Moody wasn't Moody. And book five . . . did it really have a big plot twist? *ponders* Huh. I think that the thing that's surprised me the most, though, was when Remus hugged Sirius in PoA. Honestly freaked me out so bad.

27. Which character can you identify with the most?
Hermione, I think.

28. Has Harry/Hermione tainted toast for you?
YES. Which is sad, because I like toast. And hello, Harry threw the crust into the lake instead of sleeping with it under his pillow for all eternity. I think that's saying something.

29. Who do you think has the coolest name? (These are in-depth questions, really.)
Ginny. You can't get any cooler than Ginevra. :) Though Dumbledore is a close second, with all those awesome middle names. And I so love that they referenced that in PoA.

30. Did you cry at book five?
I don't think I've ever cried at anything more in my entire life. I started crying when Hermione got hit with the curse in the Department of Mysteries - I honestly thought that she was dead, and I'm not sure I've ever been more scared in my life. (Am so pathetic.) I actually had to put the book down and just sob. I remember distinctly telling my cousin Ethan that "I can't take this anymore. I can't handle it." He was still on chapter six, and just kind of stared at me. I think he honestly thought I'd gone mental. Not the best night for babysitting. Anyway, after ten or so minutes I was finally able to pick it up again, and Hermione wasn't dead, but I was so thoroughly freaked out that I kept crying anyway. And so I cried all the way through that scene -- Ethan went to bed sometime during it -- and when Sirius got hit with the curse, I just . . . I really freaked out. Ethan said it went all silent for awhile and he thought I'd killed myself. (Please. Not that obsessed. Surprising, but true.) And then I just cried so hard, and cried all the way to the end of the book. Though at the part where you found out that Cho and Michael hooked up, and Ron told Ginny to pick someone . . . better next time, and looked furtively at her, I honestly said "Thank you." to the book. I was that emotionally insane. And very, very grateful for that part. So they were happy tears for a little while. So, yes. I sobbed when I finished it and then cried for about a half an hour afterward because it was over. And my mother called me and I couldn't even talk and she thought I was truly insane. Which, you know, I just might be.

31. Do you think he's really gone?
I really, really, really don't want him to be. But . . . I think he is. But in an interview, JKR said she couldn't answer this very question "for fear of being incarcerated" so . . . maybe he's not? Oh, I'm clinging to hope.

32. Who else do you think isn't going to live throughout the rest of the series?
Um . . . Percy kinda seems like a goner. As does Hagrid, and both of the Weasley parents, and Remus, and this depresses me too much. I hate Wormtail's stupid silver hand that shines in the moonlight, damn it. If he does anything to Remus . . .

33. Whose death would absolutely scar you for life?
Ron and/or Hermione. I would be mentally unhinged forever.

34. I'd die right alongside Ron and/or Hermione if one of them kicked the bucket.
I know that, self.

35. n_n.
*twitch*

36. Er. Sorry. I really couldn't resist. Sooo . . . Harry in OotP. What did you think?
I am conversing with myself, in a strange way. Huh. Um . . . he surprised me, because he was just so moody, but I couldn't blame him for it. His life was rather making with the suckage.

37. Were you surprised by Ginny's characterization?
Yes, very pleasantly so. :) I'd just read and written her as being so sweet and quiet in fanfics that that's automatically what I was expecting. And then I was deeply surprised to find out that the way Ginny had turned out in IR was actually rather plausible. I mean, the girl said damn in the library, yo!

38. Do you want to see Bellatrix suffer like no one has suffered before?
YES. I hate her I hate her I hate her.

39. What do you think's in store for everyone's favourite detestable little rat, Wormtail?
I think he's somehow tied to Harry. I'm also afraid that Remus is going to forgive him somehow because he's so distraught about Sirius' death - JKR said in an interview that one thing to worry about with him is that he's been so outcast from society because of his condition that he'll forgive people really easily and such. And . . . it kind of spells out doom for him, and I hate that stupid rat, and if he hurts Remus . . . gah. I hate Wormtail.

40. Did you get the somewhat creepy Remus/Tonks vibes? (Sorry that the survey writer bias is sinking through here.)
YES. I HATE THEM. I mean, I get ultra-paranoid about stuff like that with all my ships - I was honestly starting to worry about Hermione and Terry Boot, for some reason that I can't even remember now - because I don't want anyone coming between them. Harry/Cho was one big nightmare. But Remus and Tonks kinda seemed . . . I dunno. I was paranoid about them. If that ship happens I will cry and beat things.

MOVIES

1. Which movie is your favourite?
Prisoner of Azkaban! Whee!

2. Do you enjoy movie!Harry, Ron, or Hermione the most?
Um . . . probably Ron. They're not very nice to him and don't give him any glory moments, but I still love him. Rupert still manages to get a lot of Ron-ness across. I also really liked Emma in the first one, but then they made her all Super!Hermione.

3. Pick five favourite movie moments.
-The Wingardium Leviosa scene. :) Oh, how I love it.
-"You want to move closer?" "What??"
-"They're probably going to have to chop it."
-The Shrieking Shack
-The Non Hug

4. How did you feel about David Thewlis as Lupin?
I wound up loving him, as that always seems to happen to me. He wasn't Remus the way I perceived him in the books, but he was wonderful and really did project the character.

5. Oldman as Sirius?
So amazing. Don't even know how to elaborate beyond that.

6. Whose characterization bothers you the most?
Hermione's. I still like her, but I wish they didn't make her so typical girl hero-esque. The point of Hermione is that she does panic and is very emotional. They take that away in the movies and that's kind of the essence of Hermione.

7. Gambon or Harris as Dumbledore?
Gambon! How much did he rock?

8. Which movie alteration has irked you the most?
I hate it when they give Hermione lines that aren't hers. The Mudblood thing in CoS and the "fear of a name . . .", as well as RON'S LINE in PoA.

9. What do you think has been the scariest thing in the movies so far?
The basilisk really freaked me out. I don't know why, but it did.

10. Which scene from each movie did you find the most moving?
Sorcerer's Stone: Probably the Mirror of Erised scene. It's got the whole poignance thing going on in a big way.
Chamber of Secrets: the Non-Hug. I cried at that the first few times I saw it. It's just so perfect!
Prisoner of Azkaban: the part after the Shrieking Shack scene where Remus starts to change into the werewolf and Sirius is trying to stop him. "This heart is where you truly live." That was just so beautifully done. (And slashy. Mwahaha!)

11. Are you amused by the obvious R/H-ness going on?
Yes! Teehee! It brings me far more delight than is possibly healthy. And I honestly don't get why H/H shippers still exist. I just don't get it. I thought they'd have disappeared by now, considering the movies are openly R/H and JKR's even confirmed it a few times and . . . jeez. Poor souls.

12. Do you think Steve Kloves should be punished in some way?
YES. PLEASE. Stupid American.

13. Alfonso or Chris Columbus?
Alfonso! He just captured the essence of the books in a way that Columbus didn't -- Columbus's looked perfect, but I think it was ultimately just too dramatized. All the magic really seemed natural in PoA, and that's the way it is in the books.

FANFICTION/FANDOM

1. Do you write fanfiction?
Ohhhh, yes.

2. Who are your favourite characters to write about?
Ron and Hermione. They bring me joy. :) I just have lots of fun with them.

3. Who can you just not get in-character for the life of you?
Hagrid gives me lots and lots of trouble. So does Lucius Malfoy. And . . . there are quite a few, but I can't think of them. Hagrid's the first one to come to mind. I never have him in anything just because I cannot write him at all.

4. Which fanfictions (top 3) are you the most pleased with?
Um . . . I really like Lamentations just because I love Aur and that's the first time I've ever been able to develop someone even faintly resembling an original character. I also like Lost to Torment even though it's terribly melodramatic. And . . . um. I usually like my R/H ones all right; I'm not sure which one I like the best out of all of them. Maybe Sleeping Beauty, just because I like how Ron turned out in that one.

5. Which fanfiction makes you want to go hide and never see the light of day again?
Oh, gosh. All of my old ones. The art of RANDOM capitalization is a bad bad THING. And . . . IR. It sucks in every way it is possible to suck.

6. Does slash squick you?
Everything but R/S, which is so . . . there in canon to me that I don't even really consider it slash as much as just being Remus/Sirius.

7. Do you enjoy unconventional pairings (Snape/Hermione, Draco/Hermione, etc.)?
I like Draco/Ginny sometimes for angsty purposes, but I don't think it's actually plausible. I pretty much just like to stick to R/H, G/H, R/S, and S/S. The sacred ships, man.

8. Which character do you think is portrayed the most differently in fanon?
I'm torn between Draco and Snape. Draco, I think, has gotten the most ridiculously out of hand. Though poor Hermione has suffered a lot of butchering too. And . . . yeah, I found quite an interesting Snape fic earlier. Ask Dia, she knooows. "FATE IS BULLSHIT!!!!!!" Severus screamed. Uh, yeah. Angst galore. But I guess I can't blame him, considering his true love Lily and his illegitimate son Harry have been taken away from him. But really. He doesn't have to take it out on the quilt.

9. What's your favourite fanfic pairing?
Hmm . . . again with the four sacred ships. :)

10. What's the most bizarre ship you've ever stumbled upon?
I read a Hagrid/Hermione that I still haven't gotten over. But I thought Dobby/Harry/Ron/Socks was also a bit abstract. Rachel's good like that.

Holy cow, I'm DONE!

It's Fleur!

. . . ohhhh, I'm worried about GoF. I mean, the movies always turn out to be good, but . . . big, big book. Long book. How on earth are they going to squeeze it into two and a half hours?

Well, here is my first official post for Dueling Dahlings.

Now, are we still on the Gildy vs. Snape thing? 'Cause I dunno... Now I'm fairly partial on the whole thing.

Hmm, let's see if I can think of anything insightful for the first post...

Um..

Nah. Nevermind.

Well, I figure this is the place that I should do this.

Okay, so I'm reading OotP again and the same thing that made me go 'wtf?' last time is doing it again. All the discussing I've done with other people hasn't helped, so I figured I'd ask you girls.

Petunia gets a howler. Who the bloody hell is it from? The voice is described as 'awful' and yet it says, "Remember my last, Petunia." Whose last? Last what?

If the voice hadn't been described as awful, I would have probably passed it off as something that Lily had said. But how could Petunia get a howler from her long dead sister? The part of me that wants to believe that is the same part that wants to believe Lily and Petunia were once much closer. Before they found out Lily was a witch.

Okay, keep in mind I've only read the book once before this, so maybe I missed something that came up in later chapters, but the howler is probably the one thing that really caught my interest in OotP. I've always kind of like Petunia as it is, but this is grabbed me, made me look at her in a different way.

"Remember my last, Petunia." And then she orders Vernon to let Harry stay.

Any thoughts?
